The Global FoodBanking Network and The PIMCO Foundation extend partnership with five-year investment in global food bank resilience

OCTOBER 16, 2026 (CHICAGO) — On World Food Day, The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) is proud to announce a five-year gift from The PIMCO Foundation investing in the resilience and adaptability of food banks around the world.

Facing global disruption and uncertainty, millions of people are unable to access safe, nutritious food every day. Food banks are stepping up and adapting to shifting realities by becoming more agile along supply chains and more resilient in crises.

This transformative gift from PIMCO builds on years of successful collaboration with GFN. Over the last five years, PIMCO’s partnership has expanded food access for 9.4 million people and delivered 138 million meals across 17 countries.

Going forward, PIMCO will continue to support GFN’s Accelerator program, helping to quickly scale new and early stage food banks, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. It will help expand agricultural recovery programs for food banks in Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia, ensuring access to more fresh fruits and vegetables for people facing hunger. And it will support development and adaptation of agile and innovative food banking models around the world, fostering the creativity that allows food banks to efficiently move food from places of abundance to places of scarcity.

“PIMCO has been a vital partner of The Global FoodBanking Network as our reach has expanded to more than 40 million people in over 50 countries, and this new agreement will continue to drive the global food banking movement forward,” said Lisa Moon, president and CEO of GFN. “As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Global FoodBanking Network, this investment helps lay a roadmap for the years ahead, ensuring food banks around the world are able to serve their communities and create more sustainable, equitable food systems for people and the planet.”

“At PIMCO, we believe addressing hunger requires long-term partnerships that strengthen communities and build more resilient food systems,” said Cathy Stahl, Managing Director and Executive Director of the PIMCO Foundation. “We are pleased to renew our investment in The Global FoodBanking Network, whose innovative and locally driven approach has helped surpass our shared goals, reaching more than 9.4 million people over the past five years. As global needs continue to evolve, we look forward to expanding our impact together and helping ensure more families around the world have access to safe, nutritious food.”

With PIMCO’s investment, GFN aims to reach 10.8 million more people every year, deliver 22 million additional meals, and accelerate 12 new and early stage food banks over the next five years.
