At this time of uncertainty, we’re committed to supporting our global network of food banks in over 50 countries and ensuring that communities get the resources they need.
Our partner food banks are embedded in their communities, with local leadership, and consistently respond to rapidly-changing conditions. In recent years, food banks continued to provide food through the pandemic, food price surges, supply chain disruptions and natural disasters.
But food banks can’t do it alone.
Donate today to ensure that GFN can meet this moment, providing food and hope to those who need it most.
As the largest donor of aid worldwide, the U.S. government has long been a leader in global humanitarian support. The rapidly announced changes, including shifts in foreign aid, staffing, tariffs and related policies, will have a detrimental effect on many communities, including their ability to access critical food.
GFN does not receive funding from the U.S. government. As such, at this time, we do not foresee a direct impact on our planned work. Our work is supported by private donations from businesses, philanthropic foundations and concerned individuals like you.
At the same time, we are deeply concerned about the people who will undoubtedly be affected by the recent changes in U.S. government funding and programs. We do anticipate that many food banks will see a surge in demand for food and support over the coming days. Our network of food banks collaborate with over 70,000 local agencies (mostly NGOs) to carry out their work, and many of these organizations are already being affected.
As always, GFN will continue to do all we can to ensure that people have access to the food they need to thrive.
