During the beginning of the pandemic, Food Bank Madagascar responded to the increased demand for food assistance through two interventions: In the town of Tanandava, the food bank distributed 10-day supplies of rice and beans to 500 households. In Antananarivo, the food bank provided 1,200 people facing homelessness hot meals for six weeks. The food bank has been partnering with the private sector to fight hunger in the country and continues to supply food to schools as part of its school feeding programs.
