GFN surveyed food banks in 30 countries in late 2019 on child hunger programs. This report, the first of its kind, provides the results of the survey and shines a light on the scope, history, and efficacy of food bank-led child feeding programs and highlights case studies from across the Network.

Responding to an Emergency: A Guide for Food Banks and School Meal Programs

GFN and the Global Child Nutrition Foundation (GCNF) work in collaboration to support school meals and other programs that reduce child hunger and improve nutrition, food access, educational outcomes, and gender equity. GFN and GCNF developed this toolkit to provide guidance and support to organizations managing school feeding programs while navigating the challenges of COVID-19.

The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) is an international nonprofit organization that nourishes the world’s hungry through uniting and advancing food banks in more than 40 countries. GFN focuses on combating hunger and preventing food waste by providing expertise, directing resources, sharing knowledge, and developing connections that increase efficiency, ensure food safety, and reach more people facing hunger. In 2019, 949 GFN member food banks distributed over 1.4 billion meals to feed 16.9 million people through a network of more than 56,000 social service and community-based organizations.
