Feeding School Children: Jordan

Targeted Area

The 25% of school children not served by government program

The Situation

The Jordan government’s school feeding program provides breakfast—the most important meal of the day—to about 75% of the nation’s school-aged children. Recently, officials were forced to eliminate milk from the menu because of the growing global food crisis. There is strong interest in providing a fortified biscuit and milk to the 25% of students who currently do not receive a school breakfast.

GFN’s Commitment

To help alleviate the child hunger problem in Jordan, GFN will:

  • Supply milk for school breakfasts
  • Secure donated food to expand the feeding program to unserved children.
