Feeding School Children: India
Targeted Area
City to be determined
The Situation
The Indian government’s Mid-Day Meal Scheme (MDM) is a well-established program that provides school children with free lunches during the week. With food banks as suppliers, large-scale MDM providers can reap significant costs savings that can be used to expand the program to new schools.
GFN’s Commitment
To help alleviate the child hunger problem in India, GFN will:
- Develop food banks in collaboration with Lions Clubs International in Mumbai and New Dehli
- Obtain products such as cooking oil, produce, spices, etc.
- Distribute the products to MDM providers at little or no cost.
