Feeding School Children: Argentina

Targeted Area

Buenos Aires’ poorest communities

The Situation

While the government has historically provided some food programs via schools, the food continues to be rationed. Recently, funding for these programs was cut, leaving school children with just 20% of the daily nutritional values they need.

GFN’s Commitment

To help alleviate the child hunger problem in this major city, GFN will collaborate with the Buenos Aires Food Bank to:

  • Secure donated food products
  • Distribute the food to school “districts” via local agencies
  • Prepare and serve meals in schools by taking advantage of excess kitchen capacity.
