Collaboration between the Egyptian Food Bank (Cairo, Egypt) and The Global FoodBanking Network (Chicago, Illinois)
29 February 2012 The Egyptian Food Bank (or EFB) and The Global FoodBanking Network (or GFN) jointly announced a collaboration today.  EFB and GFN share the charitable mission of combating issues of hunger and food insecurity through foodbanking.  To advance their shared mission, the two organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding that provides a framework for their collaboration in promoting and developing foodbanking in mutually selected projects in the Middle East and Northern Africa.  Implementation of the memorandum of understanding is subject to the approval of the Eqyptian Ministry of Social Affairs.  Read More >>

Food Bank Leaders Gather in San Antonio to Fight Hunger and Malnutrition
23 February 2012 Food bank representatives from more than 25 countries spanning Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia will gather and be inspired to fight global hunger at the 6th annual H-E-B/GFN Food Bank Leadership Institute. The Institute will be held at the San Antonio Food Bank from February 27 to March 2.

8 February 2012 TheTelegraph in Ecuador interviewed GFN President Jeffrey Klein on his thoughts regarding the impact of the volatility of food prices on those struggling with food insecurity. His response was that "This will have a devastating impact on more than half of the world's population that are living on less than $ 2 a day."
